واوضحت أن المهرجان سيعرض النسخة الكاملة من الفيلم التي تبلغ خمس ساعات ونصف بدلا من النسخة المختصرة التي تقل ساعة ونصف عن نسخة المخرج كما أرادها.
وقد وجه المهرجان الدعوة إلى جميع أبطال الفيلم إلى جانب مخرجه، تتصدرهم الممثلة الفرنسية شارلوت جينسبرج التي سبق لها القيام ببطولة فيلم "ضد المسيح" (2009) للمخرج نفسه أمام الممثل الأمريكي وليم دافو والذي كان يحتوي على الكثير من المشاهد الجريئة غير المسبوقة في السينما. ويشارك دافو في "مهووسة جنسيا" أيضا إلى جانب شيا لابوف وكريستيان سلاتر وأما ثيرمان وجان مارك بار وأودو كيير.
وقال ديتر كوسليك مدير مهرجان برلين إن "حمهور المهرجان سيكون أول من يشاهد النسخة الطويلة الكاملة من فيلم "مهووسة جنسيا"، وسيعود مخرج الفيلم لارس فون ترايير ليحل ضيفا على المهرجان للمرة الأولى منذ عام 1984. إن الجماليات التي أبدعها في هذا الفيلم مثيرة للاعجاب كما أنها جوهرية".
ويروي الفيلم قصة تجمع بين الحسية والشاعرية تدور حول رحلة امرأة من بداية مولدها حتى بلوغها الخمسين من العمر كما ترويها الشخصية الرئيسية في الفيلم، التي شخص حالتها الأطباء بأنها مصابة بحالة "نيمفومانيا" أو ما يعرف بالهوس الجنسي. وذات يوم يعثر رجل عجوز وحيد على هذه المرأة وقد ضربت بشدة وألقي بها في طريق ضيق فيصطحبها معه إلى منزله ويقدم لها الاسعافات الضرورية، ويسألها عن حياتها ليستمع لقصتها وهي ترويها بكل تفاصيلها خلال ثمانية فصول.
ومن المقرر أن تبدأ العروض العامة التجارية للفيلم في نسخته المختصرة (4ساعات) بدور العرض العالمية في نسخته القصيرة التي اعتمدها لارس فون ترايير في 25 ديسمبر الجاري.
